The Brahmin friend was overjoyed to hear about the fast. Then that Brahmin friend, wishing for marriage, started fasting on sixteen Mondays. Shiva was compassionate on that Brahmin. In connection with some work, a Brahmin friend had to go abroad.
The daughter of the king of that city was being swayamvar. The prince of far off countries had come to marry that princess. The king had an elephant. King had kept the condition of the swayamvara that the princess would be married to the young man whose neck would be fulfilled by elephant’s garland. When a Brahmin friend reached the city, he also went to the Swayamvara site along with other people.
